New York State Watch Your Car Program
The New York State Watch Your Car Program offers two options to help deter auto theft.
Option one: VIN ETCHING, Officers will etch the Vehicle Identification Number on all the glass surfaces. This discourages auto strippers from stealing your vehicle for parts. Insurance companies offer up to a 5% discount on your comprehensive insurance.
Option two: Night Program Decals. Officers attach decals to the front and rear windshields that alert law enforcement officers that this vehicle should not be on the streets between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 AM. Officers can stop the vehicle during these hours to determine if the vehicle is stolen.
You may participate in EITHER or both options at no cost. Auto dealers charge up to $500 for VIN ETCHING. To participate you must be the registered owner and have your insurance card, registration and driver’s license with you.
The Syracuse Police Department is pleased to announce that the NYS Watch Your Car Program will be held 4:00pm - 7:00pm

IN CASE OF RAIN THE PROGRAM WILL BE CANCELLED
