Detective James A. Harvey

End of Watch: August 1, 1893

Years of Service: 24

Detective Harvey was shot and killed while attempting to arrest two burglary suspects. As he was taking one of the suspects into custody, the second offender turned and shot Detective Harvey in the head, killing him instantly. The suspects were chased by a group of citizens. They caught one of the suspects and turned him over to the police. He was convicted of the detectives murder and executed the following year.
